Lankelma sponsors CPT14 in Las Vegas
Thursday, June 5th, 2014
Geotechnical specialist Lankelma was a gold sponsor of CPT ’14, the 3rd International Symposium on Cone Penetration Testing, which was held in Las Vegas from 12-14 May 2014.
The theme of this truly international conference, with more than 300 delegates and in excess of 100 papers, was the solution of geotechnical and geoenvironmental problems using CPT. The emphasis was on the exchange of practical experience and the application of research results, with keynote lectures and panel-led discussion sessions over the two days.
Lankelma Business Development Director Andy Barwise co-authored a paper entitled: “Improved CPT sleeve friction sensitivity in soft soils”. He was also the reporter for the session on equipment and procedures, presenting his review of all papers submitted under this theme.
He said: “CPT ’14 was an excellent opportunity for practitioners, consultants and researchers from around the world to come together and discuss how best we can work to improve testing and data acquisition techniques. It was enlightening to see the growth of the industry and its drive to developing techniques and improving quality. In the spirit of knowledge sharing, it’s great that the organising committee has made all papers available on the CPT ’14 website.”
CPT ‘14 was organised by Technical Committee TC-102 of the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE) in collaboration with California State Polytechnic University.
