UK3 tracks straight and true in Middlesbrough

Monday, June 30th, 2014

Lankelma’s UK3 4 x 4 track truck mounted CPT unit coped easily with tricky site conditions during a ground investigation in Saltersgill, Middlesbrough, in May.

“The UK3 was ideal for the testing across the partially flooded site,” explained Lankelma Project Engineer William Bond. “Because it can be used as a normal truck on the road, we could mobilise rapidly to site, without the need for a low loader, and carry out 26 CPTs, a total of 235m of testing, through the underlying sand, silt, clay and gravel, in just two days.”

This was third time Lankelma had worked directly for Middlesbrough Council Laboratories. Project Officer (Advisory & Inspection Services) Jackie Steel commented that because the previous projects had been completed without any problems, she was happy to leave the Lankelma team to complete the CPT survey without full-time supervision. “Lankelma’s work is well organised to meet a client’s needs, the site operators are helpful and reports are issued promptly,” she added.
