Sitting on the dock of the bay

Lankelma had to negotiate its way around thousands of brand new cars, during a week-long ground investigation as part of a scheme that will see four new wind turbines built along the Medway estuary in Sheerness Docks, eastern England.
The investigation, for CA Blackwell, involved 16 piezocone CPTs, including six seismic tests, were carried out through alluvium and into the London Clay, to a maximum depth of 28m. The target was to reach 5m into stiff London Clay.
“All the testing had to be carried out at night and we had to use the road-rail truck because all our other rigs were out on other jobs – it was a busy month!” said Ben Magee, Lankelma Operations Manager.
