The tide is high but Lankelma holds on
Friday, July 31st, 2015
Lankelma had to bring all its experience of working in intertidal zones to bear on an urgent ground investigation on the north east coast of England. Lankelma’s 20.5t UK15 track-truck rig carried out the CPTs through 5m to 6m of sand and into the underlying clay, to a maximum depth of 20m, along the route of a proposed pipeline.
“The transport vessel could only move at high tide, which meant it took three days to carry out just four CPTs,” explained Lankelma Senior Manager Chris Dimelow. “Fortunately, once we were on the foreshore, UK15, which is ideal for working on soft ground, was able to reach the test positions quickly.”
