Lankelma praised for Welsh Rail performance
Monday, December 14th, 2015
October saw the end of a three month ground investigation to support Network Rail’s resignalling project between Newport and Cardiff in south Wales. Working over 11 Saturday nighttime possessions, Lankelma’s rail-road truck carried out CPTs next to existing structures, mainly signalling posts.
“Our Rail-Road truck was ideal for this project as the site was several kilometres long,” said Lankelma Senior Manager Chris Dimelow. “The rig was able to travel quickly between positions and carry out multiple CPTs through the railway ballast and into the soft clay below, during the short possessions.”
Network Rail Senior Construction Manager John McCormack said: “[CPT] is a cost-effective solution for rail ground investigations, as fewer survey teams are needed. Lankelma’s staff are professional, experienced and dedicated to deliver quality, without compromise to safety.”
