What is Cone Penetration Testing?
Cone Penetration Testing uses a cylindrical cone, pushed vertically into the
ground at a constant rate of penetration of 20mm/s. During penetration, measurements
are made of the cone resistance, the side friction against the cylindrical
shaft and, in piezocone tests, the pore water pressure generated at penetration
by the cone.
The measurements are made and recorded using electrical devices, the frequency
of the readings provides a detailed picture of the variation of the measured
parameters with penetration depth. Cone diameters are 10 or 15 cm2. Depths
up to 100 metres can be reached.

Advantages of CPT
We now have available for you the second edition of a free pocket book on Cone Penetration Testing
Lankelma Ltd is glad to announce
that within a year the complete first print of the guide to cone penetration
testing has been sold out.The author of the book, ir. Hans Brouwer, has now
updated a 2nd edition. The new edition adds more information on specialist
cones such as the videocone, the lubricating cone and the corecone. He also
discusses marine cone testing with the WISON APB downhole system and the Roson
and Datem seabedframes
